The ETIOBE MATE application, along with other two applications (Clinical and Mobile applications) forms the ETIOBE system.

This web page includes two areas: the open one and the private area. The open area is an area with free access and has information tailored to children about nutrition, healthy life, healthy diet, sports, etc. The private area is restricted to children who are being treated for obesity. In this page they can access to tasks indicated by the professional, self-registers, and the electronic questionnaire. Moreover, children can contact other members of the ETIOBE MATE network or access three Serious Games in flash. Furthermore, as the target population is children, this application includes a tool for their family members (private communication with the therapist, information about the child’s eating habits, etc.)

The ETIOBE MATE platform is currently being validated in nonclinical population. Our next step will be to investigate about the efficacy of the new technologies (Web pages and Serious Games) for the learning of nutritional information, in comparison with the traditional format (oral and/or text). Moreover, we want to validate the usability /playability of the designed games.

Once the platform has been validated in nonclinical population we will proceed to validate the platform in clinical population (in the treatment for childhood obesity), together with the rest of technological applications of the ETIOBE MATE platform.
