 > POSITIVE PSYCHOLOGY

The principal goal of Positive Psychology is to improve wellbeing and to prevent the arousal of mental disorders and pathologies. As a secondary goal we intend to promote the principal elements that enable individuals to successfully develop and do well.

serious gaming Martin Seligman started the study of positive psychology. The principal idea, against the traditional “negative” psychology, was the study of positive emotions, the development of everyone’s potential and the search of wellbeing, fullness and happiness. According to Seligman to improve human condition there are 2 basic and complementary strategies: one of them is trying to remove, improve, and relieve negative aspects off the personal life. The other idea is trying to promote every positive aspect.

In general, traditional clinical psychology focuses on the “negative” aspects of human condition. On the other hand, positive clinical psychology focuses on the second idea. From this point of view, as Csikszentmihalyi points out, psychological treatments do not only try to repair the damaged areas, but they try to empower what is working properly and create new working conditions that prevent the arousal of new problems.

At Labpsitec we are beginning to work from the Positive Psychology orientation, using positive mood induction tasks and programs to improve the elderly’s wellbeing.
