![]() In recent years our research group has participated in several researches about the usefulness of VR in the treatment of acute pain in collaboration with Dr. Hoffman’s group, at Washington University, in the United States. These studies have shown that VR is an effective technique in the treatment of acute pain in severe burn patients undergoing medical procedures. These studies have been conducted in normal and clinical population.
We have designed a cognitive-behavioral treatment programme for fibromyalgia and carried out a pilot study to investigate its efficiency and the use of VR in the relaxation techniques and mindfulness. In the near future we are planning to design and validate new technological applications for the treatment of chronic pain. | ||||
