![]() Through this line of research, we have addressed several specific phobias from a cognitive behavioral approach. Phobias to small animals, flying phobia, claustrophobia or acrophobia are some of the psychological problems treated with this approach.
All this, along with control anxiety techniques (muscle relaxation techniques, breathing, etc.) conform a treatment program with a gradual course of work which are adapted to the personal history and circumstances of the patient. Numerous studies show the efficiency and effectiveness of cognitive-behavioral treatment for specific phobias in short, medium and long term. Currently, new developments in this line of work are focused on adding the benefits of new technologies (telepsychology, virtual reality, augmented reality) to these therapies. The preliminary results are quite promising and offer an opportunity to improve the empirically validated treatments such as the cognitive-behavioral one. | ||||
