Juana María Bretón López holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Granada (2008) and is currently a professor at the Universitat Jaume I since 2018. The central theme of her research is the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) for the application of psychological treatments and the promotion of health and well-being. She belongs to the Labpsitec research group (http://www.labpsitec.uji.es) led by Dr. Azucena García Palacios. This group has recognized prestige and is a pioneer worldwide in the use of ICT-based applications for the treatment of various psychological problems.
She also collaborates since September 2006 until now in activities of evaluation, diagnosis and individual and group psychological treatments in the Psychological Assistance Service of Universitat Jaume I.
She has been principal investigator in three research projects funded by the Universitat Jaume I Research Promotion Plan. In addition, she has been principal investigator in two projects of the National Research Program. She is currently principal investigator (together with Drs. Sven Casteleyn and Carlos Granell) in a coordinated research project funded by the Ministry of Science and Innovation in the call for Knowledge Generation Projects, National Plan for scientific-technical research and innovation 2021-2023.
In addition, he has been a member of the research team in a wide range of research projects funded by national and European organizations. Some of these projects are the E-COMPARED Project, which aims to provide data on the effectiveness of online interventions for depression in 5 European countries, or the ECOWEB- Assessing and enhancing emotional competence for well-being (ECOWEB) in the Young project, to develop and disseminate mobile applications as ways to dispense psychological skills to promote well-being and mental health in young people and adolescents.
In his teaching career he has taught at the University of Granada and at the University Jaume I. Specifically, she has taught credits in the first and second cycle of the degree in Psychology, as well as in the degree in Psychology and the degree in Criminology and Security and finally in the Master of Psychopathology, Health and Neuropsychology and current Master in General Health Psychology. The overall evaluation of the quality of teaching is positive in both Universities. In addition to the above credits, she has participated as a guest lecturer in conferences, courses and seminars organized by different associations and centers and other Universities as an external lecturer.
