We have developed a smart sensor network system (TIPS Therapy Personal Intelligent Sensor), and a PDA to conduct computerized self-registration, and a real time online connection with the patient.

TIPS system is an open sensor platform to develop intelligent environments oriented to the patient. This system connects the patient to other platforms that constitute the intelligent e-therapy, which provides feedback to the patient. TIPS can obtain contextual information (geopositioning, Physical Activity and posture) and physiological data (heart rate, skin conductance and breathing rate). Mobile Devices can communicate through mobile devices such as PDAs, Mobile Phones, with computers or sensors distributed throughout the environment (Therapy Intelligent Sensor). Within the ETIOBE platform this component is basic to understand the patient's lifestyle and their physical activity level, helping to schedule tasks and adapt goals to the lifestyle of the patient.

In addition to these TIPS we have also designed a PDA self-registered program connected real time with the therapist. Data obtained from these self-registered answered by the patient are captured by the system that can interact with it by throwing reinforcing messages. The therapist, in turn, can access to this information straight away, being this way able to study the tasks in detail. This allows self-registration to become a useful tool to monitor progress of the patient. In case of obesity by self-intake records, emotions or thoughts prior to the intake are essential to understand the evolution of the patient. This system can be adapted to the needs and goals of therapy, facilitating the task.

These technologies are being finalized and are soon going to be validated in studies comparing them to traditional methods, in order to use them together within the ETIOBE system.
